New Country Market Reports now available

The Q1, 2008 County Market reports are now available from the Real Estate Statistics page. These statistics, which I prefer to call the Market Velocity reports give the reader a good idea of how long it might take to sell a house in the markets that are tracked. The markets are broken up into $100K price bands to help make the statistics more meaningful. So, if you’re planning on listing your commerce Township home for $260,000, you can go look at the $200-300K price band to see how long it might take to sell.

More help may be on the way, if Bush doesn’t veto it.

The U.S. House passed a housing aid plan Thursday that would provide $300 billion to refinance mortgages for homeowners facing foreclosure.
Under the program, lenders will get an FHA guarantee on the loan if they write down the principal amount by 15 percent from the home’s current appraised value. The bill excludes investors and those who lied about their income on a loan application. A companion measure would give first-time home buyers a $7,500 tax credit and provide $15 billion to allow communities to buy and fix abandoned homes.

The bill now goes to the Senate, which must debate and vote on it. President Bush has said he would veto the measure if it passes. He says the measure would bankrupt the FHA by forcing it to take too many risks.
